TRANSATLANTIC

#Transatlantic Tunnel is

actually a theoretical tunnel

which would span the

Atlantic ocean from New

York to London extending

its way to France…..

#Using advanced technologies,

the Maglev trains through

this tunnel would speed up

to maximum 8OOO km/hr i.e.

almost 5OOO miles/ hr…..

Difficulties Regarding The mapping Of

Route

|;

#Route starting from New York – then New Finns land coast

in Canada – passing beneath the ocean floor to Greenland –

Iceland – and then splitting to Norway and England was

envisioned which halves the under water construction………

#Overland portion,, ice and high wind condition on the lands

of Greenland,, will certainly slow down traffic…….

||;

#Beneath the ocean floor of Atlantic ocean is not possible b’coz

of Mid Atlantic Ridge,, a volcanic mountain range directly at

tunnel’s path…….

#The area averages remarkable 5 earthquakes everyday making

construction at such a seismically active region is deadly……….

|||;#Along the ocean floor is not possible b’coz of very

high pressure deep inside the ocean……..

#At just 1 mile down water pressure is 165 times the

pressure at sea level……..

#At ocean floor almost 5 miles deep the water

pressure is 8OO times i.e. almost around 12 million

pounds of pressure per square inch……..

||||;#Thinking of large pontoons

supporting the tunnel from the ocean

level won’t work b’coz of continuous

strong currents……

#supporting the tunnel with concrete

piers would be out of question b’coz the

ocean is 5 miles deep…construction of

such piers would be even a larger project…..

The proposal#The transatlantic tunnel

would span Atlantic ocean b/w

New York & London extending

to France ..….

#More than 54000 prefabricated

tunnel segments built on the land

will be linked together along the

ocean about 160 ft below sea level with the help of

specialized ship called Immersion Pontoon……..

#The prefabricated sections would

be held in place by 100000

tethering cables ……

#These cables would be anchored into the

seafloor with the help of submersibles……

#The tethering system would allow the tunnel to

sway slightly to withstand Atlantic’s

strongest currents, including

Gulf streams…..

#The anchors would be pushed inside

the seafloor with the help submersibles

creating almost vacuum b/w anchorage &

seafloor…..

#B’coz of greater accelerations & high

speed,, passengers would experience

g-forces. To minimize them trains

would be provided pivoting

rotating seats and each car would

have its own pressurized

circulating air…….
