(1862-19180)

Born in Austria to a very poor immigrant family

After being awarded a scholarship, Klimt was able to study art at an academy in Vienna

focused heavily on traditional western painting

Tragedies such as the death his father and older brother along with a new love interest influenced a change in his painting style

Judith and holfernes

In 2006, one of his portraits of a woman named Adele Bloch-bauer sold for $135 million, which set the record for the highest amount of money ever paid for a painting.

Henri Toulouse-

Lautrec(1864-1901)

Toulouse-Lautrec created a huge body of work in only 20 years:

737 canvases 275 watercolors 363 prints and posters 5,084 drawings some ceramic and stained glass work an unknown number of lost works

His style of work is attributed to the art nouveau style due to the use of flat shapes and curvilinear forms.

Henri Toulouse-Lautrec died at the age of 36 from syphilis and alcoholism-related complications.
