MAGED  MEKHAIL.  BORN  1982.  EGYPTIAN.  FINE  ARTS  SCHOOL  GRADUATE  2004.  

As  part  of  our  mission  to  act  as  a  search  engine  for  Egypt's  next  genera@on  of  Contemporary  Ar@sts,  ArtTalks  is  proud  to  present  the  first  solo  show  for  Maged  Mekhail.    Born  in  1982,  Mekhail  graduated  from  Helwan  Fine  Arts  Ins@tute  in  2004,  aOer  which  he  trained  during  4  years  under  the  tutelage  of  Egyp@an  pivotal  ar@st,  Adam  Henein.  Armed  with  outstanding  craOsmanship  and  intensive  training,  Mekhail  carved  a  dis@nc@ve  and  independent  direc@on  for  himself,  culmina@ng  in  winning  the  2011  Sculpture  Award  at  the  Ministry  of  Culture's  Youth  Salon.  Mekhail’s  passion  for  Egypt’s  glorious  past  is  prominent  in  his  rich  body  of  work.  He  manages  to  blend  Pharaonic,  Cop@c  or  Greek  lines  onto  his  work.  His  forms  are  usually  semi-­‐abstrac@ons  of  the  human  figure  -­‐  sugges@ve  celebra@on  of  the  sensual  female  body  or  icons  of  our  proud  Egyp@an  Cop@c  and  Muslim  heritage.  As  we  struggle  and  argue  about  our  Egyp@an  iden@ty,  Maged  Mekhail  gently  reminds  us  of  what  we  stand  for  -­‐  a  diverse,  rich  and  tolerant  people  who  have  shaped  the  past  and  are  able  to  embrace  the  future.      Mekhail  is  set  to  fly.  And  is  set  to  last  to  become  one  of  Egypt’s  most  successful  contemporary  ar@sts.

Founded  in  2010,  ArtTalks  is  an  educa@onal,  advisory  and  exhibi@on  space  in  Egypt  in  support  of  Modern  and  Contemporary  Egyp@an  Visual  Arts.  Our  two-­‐fold  objec@ve  is  to  be  a  forum  for  knowledge  through  providing  art  educa@onal  seminars  and  a  search  engine  for  Egypt’s  next  genera@on  of  contemporary  ar@sts.      Our  commitment,  as  we  struggle  to  find  answers  regarding  our  na@onal  iden@ty,  is  to  protect  unequivocally  the  freedom  to  create,  to  mentor  and  exhibit  highly  talented  young  ar@sts  and  to  expose  art  lovers  to  outstanding  contemporary  art  from  the  Middle-­‐East.    Part  of  ArtTalks’  income  is  reinvested  into  an  Art  Fund  “Hassala”  with  the  objec@ve  of  suppor@ng  talented  yet  struggling  ar@sts  and  publishing  books  on  selec@ve  late  and  living  ar@sts.  

Fatenn  Mostafa,  Founder,  is  the  former  board  member  of  Al  Ahram  Beverages  Company  and  CEO  of  Gianaclis  Vineyards.  Raised  in  different  parts  of  the  world,  Ms.  Mostafa  acended  History  of  Art  classes,  parallel  to  her  main  Economics  and  Management  Degrees  in  Vienna,  Austria.
