Protector 16.5 – 10 July 2012
-‐ Further enhancements to the Web Filter Report The new web filter report has been greatly appreciated, so we decided to make it available from the web interface and to add more features to it. All the functions about Web Filter Reporting have been grouped under the new menu item Report. Here are the Daily Summary report, that is the same report that from firmware 14.5 is being sent by email and contains detailed information about the web usage, with 10 different tables of data, each one enriched with bar and/or pie charts.

Now, two more reports are available, the Summary and the User Usage Summary. Both these reports display the same information as the Daily Summary, but with different filters. On both these reports, it’s possible to select the period that the report will cover. There is a pre-‐set range of frequently used periods, for a faster selection, otherwise it’s possible to select the dates From and To with the help of a calendar. The calendar allows to enter both start and end dates at once, without closing it. The User Usage Report allows to enter the IP address of the client machine in the local area network we want the report for, and will provide information about the internet usage of that single machine. The Calendar function has been added to the Daily Summary report too.

-‐ ZIP on fly on email export. The function that exports email messages starts the download when the zip file has been prepared. In some cases it takes a long time to prepare the zip file, and the browser can get a timeout error. The new Zip On Fly function will start the download without previously creating the zip file. This will dramatically increase the performance and will avoid timeouts when the number of emails to export is high.

-‐ Remote support at restart.
The Remote Support has been improved with the new feature that allows the Support to start automatically when the Protector restarts. It’s enough to select the check box.
This function has also been improved with new messages to the user, that give a better feedback on the current state of the Remote Support.
-‐ System Logs improved. The function to clean the System Logs has been improved in 2 ways:
o When the Quarantine Mails are cleaned, the system will clean also the temporary folder where the email messages are stored before being sent. In some cases messages cannot be sent and the stored emails can fill up the hard disk.
o When the “Cleanup if older than“ is changed for a log, the system will immediately compare the new value and the last cleanup date. If necessary, the log is cleaned immediately. For logs that maintain the most recent messages

(marked with an *), the older messages are cleaned regardless of the last cleanup date.
-‐ Paging system. The paging system is used in the Protector when the number of elements to display in a page is variable and can be very high. This happens for the Web Filter Log and for the Antispam Quarantine Listings. This function allows to alter the number of elements that are to be displayed in a single page by default.
