WEST VIRGINIA

West Virginia is located in the South, in the Appalachian area, next to

Virginia.

It split from Virginia during the American Civil War in 1862 and was admitted to the Union as a separate

state on June 20, 1863.

the nation located entirely

within the Appalachian

Mountain Range. In which all areas are

mountainous, that is why it is nicknamed The Mountain State.

The climate of West Virginia is among a subtropical climate in the southwestern part of the state. The rest has a continental climate with

hot and humid wet summers and cold winters.

Charleston is the state capital.

Joe Manchin is the current governor of the state.

Huntington is one of the most important cities in West Virginia.

Parkersburg is another one.

The University of West Virginia is the first institution of higher education in

West Virginia.
