Hurricane Rita -‐ Disaster Relief Before Hurricane Rita blew ashore, adding more damage to the already storm-‐ravaged southern shores, Mahaffey Fabric Structures was contacted by a Fortune 100 utility company, Entergy, and told to be ready to mobilize to Texas as soon as conditions made travel safe. The day after Rita hit land, Mahaffey was on the scene in Beaumont, TX installing structures to house Entergy’s utility line workers and tree trimmers.
Within 48 hours, Mahaffey Fabric Structures erected a base camp with structures to feed and shelter more than 600 disaster relief workers.
Because the site was located on a local High School’s sports complex, there was an ample amount of space for Mahaffey’s large structures. Portable showers were unnecessary, in this case, as the showers in the school locker rooms remained operable.
Mahaffey provided:
 (3) 60’x150’ Sleep Structures (1) 66’x82’ Cafeteria Structure
(to seat 500 people) Portable Flooring for structures 600 Sleep Cots Generator Power Power Distribution Systems,
including perimeter Quad Box Outlets
Lighting Systems Air conditioning and Heating
Temporary Housing Camp

Mahaffey was proud to be able to mobilize and finish the installation quickly, ensuring that Entergy’s crews had safe, comfortable living quarters – which enabled them to focus their energy on the task of restoring power, and some normalcy, to the people affected by catastrophic storm damage.
Each Sleep Structure was outfitted with opaque fabric, which maintained a dark interior during daylight hours to allow those workers who were on the night shift to sleep more easily.
Dining Facilities were outfitted with bright, translucent tops that maintained a bright and cheery Cafeteria environment.
