Population• In 2015, estimated 5,094 people live in the Whittlesea

Township. By 2036, population expected to grow to 7,220 (increase of 47%)

• Median age in 2015 is 37. Expected to increase to 40 by 2036

• 70 - 84 age group forecast to experience the greatest change between 2015 and 2036 - increase of 76%

 

Telepresence Robot – ‘Mr Whittles’

 

What is a Telepresence Robot?• iPad mounted on a Segway-style electric scooter• Used for two-way conversations and remotely commanded by residents from

local Aged Care facilities • Footage from events streamed live back to the Aged Care facility which residents

watch on a big screen TV, laptop or iPad• Conduct interactive excursions without leaving the aged care facility directed with

an iPad or Smart TV Android?

Benefits• House-bound residents have a new lease of life, are socially connected and

included within the community• Improved brain health• Successful interaction with emerging technology• Access to public library collections, involvement in library and council events• Excursions within the township as well as to the city and interstate or even world-

wide
