What is TroikaWatch?International newsletter

about economic and social developments in den crisis states of the Eurozone

• Published each one or two months as an email newsletter;

• Target group: People from social movements;

• Also a website, on which also other texts are published;

Goals 1

To counter the ruling narrative about the economic crisis:

• People have not lived behind their means;

• Problems have systemic causes;

Goals 2

• Showing that many problems are the same in all countries;

• To bridge the gap between the crisis countries;

• To bridge the gap between the crisis countries and the core countries;

Promote solidarity

History

• Founded in December 2013 • Participants have found each

other on different European mailing lists (EUinCrisis, Attacsem, ICAN)

• So far four newsletters and two press releases published

• Fifth newsletter on the verge of publishing

TroikaWatch reports regularly about:

Mode of Operation

• Mailing lists

All work on a voluntary basis

Production of a Newsletter 1• Defining dates for deadline,

production of the final version, translation und publication.

• Mostly also definition of a main topic, which should be included as a recurrent theme in all contributions (e.g. corruption, EU elections).

• Participants write the contribution about their country and send it across the mailing list.

Production of a Newsletter 2• One person produces a final version

from all contributions, completed by a part about the EU level.

• Endversion gets uploaded to a pad and finalized together.

• Translation by Trommons and own translators.

• Proofreading of the translations

• Upload to the website and sending out as newsletter.

Organization• TroikaWatch is a pool of

individuals, which are personally responsible about the content of the newsletters.

• However most of us are also engaged in other organizations or social movements, by which we get supported.
