Ah well, homework, then. He turned the screen off and reached reluctantly for his schoolbag. Half of it wasgeography, which was nearly all colouring in and copyingand drawing. Kid’s work. He had thought that the colouring would stop when he was at secondary school, but no such luck. Resignedly pulling the folder towards him and starting to shade in a patch of steppe ….He put the finishing touches to ‘Africa – main crops’ and looked, with disfavour, at ‘Africa – climate’. One day, work and life would not be this boring.

• VIDEO & POSTER ACTIVITY VERY WELL ENJOYED

• WORD MATS, MAPWORK, MYSTERY, PHOTO WORK, & INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD WELL ENJOYED

• TRAVEL WRITING NOT PARTICULARLY WELL ENJOYED BUT CONSIDERED TO BE MOST VALUABLE FOR LEARNING

• THERE WAS A CLEAR CORRELATION BETWEEN DOMINANT LEARNING STYLES AND ACTIVITIES MOST ENJOYED

• “A good balance of writing, practical work and group work. It wasperfect and really fun and interesting.”

• “I think this section of work was really interesting. I think theexercise we did on what kind of learner we are was reallyimportant. I would like to do more hands on and drawing stuff, butI suppose they are really time consuming! I like reading the travel writing, and I am going to read more Bill Bryson. All in all, I havelearnt a great deal from the work we have been doing on shantytowns.”
