Epidemiology :

Breast Ca is the leading Female Cancer since 1967.

It ranged between 29 and 34.5% of all Female Cancers.

The majority of Patients are from Central and North Sudan.

Ca Cervix, 13 – 16 %.

Male Breast Ca forms 4 % of all Breast Ca.

RICK Breast Ca Stage Distribution 1967 -- 2010:

Stage 1 = 5 – 13%

Stage 2 = 7 – 17 %

Stage 3 = 34 – 45%

Stage 4 = 15 – 25 %

Our Main Aim is :

To increase awareness about Cancer.

Train Medical Doctors , Medical Students para medicals , and Community Health Workers.

Include Early detection of Cancer in the Primary Health System.

Capacity Building Activities :

Training of Doctors = 212

Community Health Doctors = 25

Training of Medical Assistances = 49

Training of Nurses and Midwives = 406

Training of Community Health Workers = 38 +

Training of Trainers:

There are 34 Medical Schools in Sudan.

6 Has Oncology Consultants staff.

Training of trainers course, for instructors from 12 Medical Schools , for one week May 13. Syllabus, network, continuous a assessment.

Health Education about Cancer :

Public Lectures, 2 mobile Units ,WIG

TV, Radio, Campaigns, Posters ,News papers , booklets.

Early Detection Clinics:

In 5 Cities and Towns.

4 Clinics in Khartoum.

2 Mobile Units

One Mammography Unit

Early Detection Surveys :

5 Main Surveys.

North and East Sudan Surveys :

Total of 2284 Women

19 Cases of Early Breast Ca were detected, and 49 Fibro adenomas.

Only 1 woman was doing regular BSE, non had a pap Smear.

5– 15% didn’t know Cancer.

Early Detection Surveys :

Suba ESO Multicentre Study:

Controlled Study in Sudan, Egypt, Yemen and Kurdistan Iraq.

Traget 4000 Study Group ,and a similar Control Group.

750 Examined, 844 Controls

4 Early Cases Diagnosed and 16

Fibro adenomas

Merowi Karima , Study

Training of 20 Doctors, 79 Medical assistances, Nurses and Midwives

39 Nursing Academy School

19 Community Health Workers

5 Public lectures were given

Questionnaires before and after the course

2 early Detection Clinics + a network

8 New Early Breast ca were referred after the course.
