The CLARA SWAIN HOSPITAL is located in Bareilly India.

It was founded by Dr.Clara A. Swain in the early 1870s to provide focused medical care to women and children.

Presently, this hospital remains the “oldest and largest Methodist hospital in India.

Introduction

Efforts to revive the hospital were supported by the newly assigned hospital director, Lillian Wallace, and a qualification for a hospital revitalization program, funded by the General Board of Global Ministery.

 As a result, in 2001, it was reported that the hospital had undergone several renewal projects and as well as an increase in medical equipment, staff, and patients.

History

The hospital was taken on lease by few prominent businessmen and was greatly revamped in 2011 under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Gautam, the chancellor of Invertis University, Bareilly.

 The hospital is now the largest multi super specialty hospital of Bareilly (barring two hospitals attached to medical colleges.

It has all super specialty departments including cardiology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, urology, gastroenterology with the world class equipment and facilities.

An OPD is a part of a hospital designed for the treatment of outpatients,people with health problems .

Actually this department is for those who visit the hospital for diagnosis or treatment, but do not at this time require a bed or to be admitted for overnight care.

An emergency department (ED), also known as an accident & emergency department (A&E), or casualty department, is a medical treatment facility specializing in emergency medicine and care of patients.

The emergency department is usually found in a hospital or other primary care center.

In an EMG ward an EMO (Emergency Medical Officer) is appointed for emergency needs.

It’s a separate ward relating to the medical treatment of problems that affect a people’s bones or muscles.

In this ward care specialty focused on the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders,orthopedic issues range from acute problems such as fractures or hospitalization for joints replacement to chronic systemic disorders such as loss of bone density.

Male ward of a hospital is generally for males.

Male patients are transferred here from ICU,HDU, or Procedure room.

It is decided by medical staff that the patient no longer need such close observation and one-to-one care.

In this ward the care and medication of each patients is done by staff nurse/ward boy.

Pathology is a branch of medical science primarily concerning the cause, origin and nature of disease.

 It involves the examination of tissues, organs, bodily fluids and autopsies in order to study and diagnose disease.

It also involves all tests of blood such as Hematology,Biochemistry,HIV,Blood Sugar etc.
