Tennessee's appeals court is expected to hear arguments Friday on
whether medical examiners should be allowed to conduct an autopsy
on a death row inmate executed last month. Cecil C. Johnson Jr. was
put to death by lethal injection at 1 a.m. on Dec. 2. The
53-year-old was convicted of killing three people, including a
12-year- old boy, during a Nashville convenience store robbery in
1980. The medical examiner in Nashville intended to perform a
routine autopsy on his remains after the execution, court records
say. But hours before his execution, Johnson and his wife filed
legal motions claiming the autopsy would violate his constitutional
rights. Posted 1/7/2010 3:39 PM By Clay Carey, USA TODAY
