Do Loud Motorcycles Really Save Lives?
People relaxing at home don’t like hearing loud motorcycles engines out on the street in what is
otherwise a peaceful neighborhood.
But those loud noises are an essential safety tool for people who ride.
The old expression among bikers is “Loud pipes save lives.” The noise of the motorcycle lets drivers know a motorcycle is nearby, even if
they can’t see one.
Motorcyclists know generally where blind spots are and they do a great job of
staying out of them.
While there is a small minority of people who cause a nuisance with bike engine noises, most riders understand that a loud bike is a safe bike.
