IMPROVING YOUR

CONCENTRATION

Importance of concentration to produce result at work

“I can't

concentrate."

"My mind

wanders when I

try to work."

Many experienced this...

Nearly 50 percent of

American employees said

they only work for 15

minutes before becoming

distracted. 53 percent

reported wasting an hour

or more a day because of

disruptions.

STUDY

One hour per day translates into

$10,375 of wasted productivity per

person annually, assuming an

average salary of $30/hour.

That is more than the average U.S.

driver will spend this year to own

and maintain a car. For businesses

with 1,000 employees, the cost of

employee interruptions exceeds $10

million per year

Nearly 60% of work

interruptions now involve

either using tools like email,

social networks, text

messaging and IM, or

switching windows among

disparate standalone tools

and applications

Concentration is the ability to direct one's

thinking in whatever direction one would intend

Light Concentration

First sit down to study and continues throughout the first 5 minutes of study

Just getting settled into your reading, listening, or studying

In this level students may be easily distracted

Little is achieved during this stage

Very little learning actually occurs

Moderate Concentration

After about 5 minutes of studying

Begins paying attention to material that is being read, heard, or studied

Not as easily distracted

Begin to focus only on the material and external distractions are ignored

Some learning occurs in this stage

Deep Concentration

Begin thinking only about what you are hearing, writing, or reading

Totally consumed in material

Learn the most material while in deep concentration

Complete more work in less time and are working most effectively

6 hats' or 'the six hats of thinking',

these techniques focus on enhancing

the structure of thinking

Each thinking role is identified with a colored symbolic "thinking hat." By mentally wearing and

switching "hats," you can easily focus or redirect thoughts

Gain inner peace.

Free your mind from annoying thoughts.
