What is Social Media?

@studioSkylineUK

It’s not…

Traditional Marketing

It definitely isn’t…

Classic Advertising

Just a Profile on Facebook, Twitter, etc

And it’s not…

Social Media defines the activities that integrate technology, social

interaction and the sharing of words, images, video and audio

In other words…

Social Media is a conversation that takes place online

If it’s so good.. Why don’t you do it?

What do you need to do?

Create a Strategy (a really good one)

@studioSkylineUK

Remember it’s a conversation… With Your Potential and Existing Clients

Like all conversations

the key to social media begins with listening

Start listening to…

- Key public figures/influencers - Mentions of your organisation - Popular industry blogs and websites - Where are your customers? Then you will know: - What social media channels to join - Who to connect with - How to find your customers

Step 1) Listen

Step 2) Search

Step 3) Engage

Take action! You can: follow, “favourite” or reply directly to the content of the tweets. The key thing is to listen well so your reply is relevant. The KISS (keep it short and simple) principle applies here too. And don’t be promotional at this stage – just be really helpful. Keep in mind that not all tweets will be relevant for you. So don’t reply to everything – just pick the ones that look right for you.

LinkedIN: Track who engages with you

Hi [name], As part of my LinkedIN strategy I’m seeing how I can help the people I’m connected to. What kind of clients or customers are you looking for and let me see if I can help? Thanks.

Use a CRM

Reach out and Message People

- It’s a warm lead because THEY initially engaged with you - They have been seeing you and your updates - See how you can help them - Arrange a one to one meeting/coffee/lunch with them

Action steps to Get Results

- Remember the benefits associated to social media to motivate you to spend time on it

- Set aside at least 1 hour a week for social media updates - Set aside 30 minutes per day to build your social media audience - Set aside 1 hour a week to contact those who have followed and

engaged with you (new business leads) that week
