HISTORY OF KURDS AND KURDISTAN

• The Kurdish people are an ethnic group that originated in the Middle East. Mostly followers of the Sunni branch of Islam and speakers of Kurdish languages, Kurds share a similar cultural identity. At the same time, there are a diverse range of Kurdish political movements, reflecting the fact that the Kurdistan region is divided between four different countries – Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran

• The Kurds historically inhabited the regions surrounding the Zagros Mountains. The area is often referred to as Kurdistan (home of the Kurds), but the Kurdish people do not have their own state. The drive for independent nationhood is a key part of Kurdish history and identity.

Kurdish is an official language of Iraq and a regional language in Iran. Many Kurds are bilingual.

POLITICS (PAST AND PRESENT)

After 1958 revolution and rejecting the Iraqi government’s subsequent offer of autonomy for the Kurdish area in northern Iraq which was led by Mustafa al-Barzani In 1946 Barzani emerged as commander of the army of the short-lived Kurdish Mahabad Republic, which had been established with Soviet aid in northwestern Iran. He also founded the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which was to remain the most powerful group in Kurdish politics for decades After his death Barzani was succeeded as leader of the KDP by his son, Masoud. Masoud barzani became the president of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq in 2005, until now.

POLITICS NOWADAYS LED KURDISTAN INTO NEGATIVE AND

POSITIVE ASPECTS

• Challenge between the political parties

Negative side Positive side

ISIS INDEPENDSNCE OF KURDISTAN

IN A NEGATIVE SIDE IT LED KURDISTAN REGION AFTER A LOT OF

DEVELOPMENT INTO A

1- war 2-economic crisis 3-murdering innocent people

But same as the other ones Kurds fought them and still fighting today with their Peshmarga forces either for themselves and the world cause ISIS isn’t a threat only for Kurdistan or a dedicated nation and their bravery and the courage of Peshmarga hasn't been admitted by a person or two but by the world.

IN A POSITIVE SIDE

INDEPENDENCE OF KURDISTANit looks like we're having an independence Kurdistan its not going happen in couple of days but it might happen surprisingly quickly, especially when May 2016 is the centennial of the Sykes-Picot agreement ends. That agreement greatly disadvantaged the Kurds since it didn’t give them a state of their own. That historical injustice may soon be rectified in the Kurdistan Region as it assists multinational efforts to do away with the tyrannical Islamic State,
