7 steps to increase employee participation level

1. Keep communication lines openAll modes of communications should be made available to the employees to refer friends. Phone lines, emails, social media handlers for the referral team and even direct access to the concerned person should be made available to all employees.

Set up a dedicated team for your employee referral program so that communication lines can be monitored 24/7.

2. Provide reasons for rejections

There is nothing more discouraging to an employee than the rejection of his references. The best thing you can do is to tell your employee why his references were rejected.

This will educate him on who to refer in future and on a larger scale will significantly reduce the irrelevant references you receive from your employees (if any).

3. Introduce a portal

Most employees refrain from consistent participation because of the repetitive process of referring for each job opening.

Introduce a portal that’ll simplify how employee can refer their friends and streamline your whole employee referral process.

4. Prioritize good referrers

Much like you give a five star treatment to your finest clients, treat your highest yielding employees the same way.

Give references of your historically good referrers a higher priority in processing. Nobody likes to wait; fast proceeding of their referrals will make their life easier. They will continue their active participation.

5. Expand the referrer pool

Why deal only with your employees? Bring in others even remotely related to your organization to keep the overall participation level high.

Allow your ex-employees and other potential prospects outside to participate in your program. See the difference then.

6. Give it a name

Don’t call it just another ‘employee referral program’. Name it and brand it. This will ensure that presentation of the program to the employees appealing. Appealing campaigns demand attention from the employees.

[247] Inc have named their employee referral program Profit Pals. How cool is that!

7. Make consistency your friend

When employees come to work, they work and worry less about everything else. With a poster or a promotion once in a while, you certainly will not be able to market your program to every employee in your organization.

Keep consistency, even if there are no job openings. Find a way to keep your employee engaged with your program, perhaps by quizes, felicitations, games, challenges etc...
