TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “MANAGEMENT OF SOIL ,WATER &FISH DISEASES IN AQUACULTURE”

PRESENTATION ON TRAINING GIVEN BY:

ANWESHA BANERJEE ADITI PODDAR SATARUPA BANERJEE RIMA ROY PURBA ROY

FROM TECHNO INDIA UNIVERSITY, SALT LAKE , SECTOR --5

Water quality requirements: (I)pH (II) OXYGEN (III) FREE CARBON-DIOXIDE (IV)MAINTAINANCE OF ACIDITY AND ALKALINITY.

pH = 7—8.5 Colour= greenish-brown. Depth = 5ft or more. O2 level= 5-10 mg/l. Lime is added to maintain

alkaline condition Cow-dung is added to reduce

alkalinity exceeding 8.5 limit

DAY –1

DAY 1

PCR & its applications- Polymerase chain reaction.

Concept of Molar, Normal , ppt(parts per thousand), ppm(parts per million), ppb(parts per billion).

Preparation of 0.01M EDTA solution

Preparation of N/50 sulphuric acid.

DAY 1 CONT:

Microbiology of fishes: Factors affecting growth

of micro-organisms like Temperature ,composition of gases , water quantity (lower water content 0.86 will increase shelf like of fish products).

Sources of microbes in packaged fish products .

Sources of microbes in fishes (gills , intestine, skin)

Major causes for food spoilage (physical , chemical, microbes, others)

Quality control by (I) QUALITY ASSURANCE ; (II) HACCP(hazard analysis critical control point).

DAY 2.

ESTIMATION OF pH ;alkalinity ;free CO2 ; Hardness of water.Enumeration of microbiological counts in isolated micro-organisms from fish sample.

DAY 2 CONT:

TECHNIQUES USED DURING CULTURING OF MICRO-ORGANISMS.

DAY 2 CONT:

Methods of application of therapeutics for treatment of diseased fishes.Isolation of DNA from fish.

DAY 3

DAY 3 CONT:

FIELD TRIP TO NAIHATI : VISITING NATIVE FISH FARMSTOUR OF THE BREEDING TANKS Growth hormones ; fish pituitary gland Different sterilization techniques and management of pond water.Discussion with fish farmers about feed quantity and quality , diseases and their management. Tour of the actual fish Breeding ponds.

DAY 4

DAY 5Symptomatic diagnosis of infectious and non- infectious fish diseases .Maintenance of soil and water quality parameters inn intensive aquaculture for management of fish diseases.Gram staining.

DAY 6

Estimation of dissolved oxygen of the water sample.Estimation of Salinity of water sample.Estimation of Ammonia of water sample.Measurement of pH of soil by Barium sulphate(1cm) ,25ml water and 10 mg processed soil.
