Schistosomiasis, also known as snail fever, is a disease caused by parasitic flatworms called schistosomes. The urinary tract or the intestines may be infected. Signs and symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stool, or blood in the urine.

Liver fluke disease (fasciolosis) is caused by the trematode parasite Fasciola hepatica. Disease can result from the migration of large numbers of immature flukes through the liver, or from the presence of adult flukes in the bile ducts, or both.

•Initially causes diarrhoea alternating with constipation and hunger.•As the infection progresses and the worm burden increases, oedema of the face, abdominal wall, and lower limbs occurs, as well as ascites and generalised abdominal pain.•Anorexia, nausea, and vomiting are also common.More items...
