Delhi for Women’s Safety

Nascent Stage

Delhi for Women’s Safety started of as a community for women empowerment and safety in the aftermath of 2012 Delhi Gangrape Case.

The community isn’t about lashing at the government! Instead, it is about bringing a change in PERCEPTION and POLICIES, keeping in view the safety and empowerment of women.

Reason for its inception

80% of Delhi women fear for their safety. Two out of three women in Delhi have suffered sexual harassment at least two to five times in the last year.

We wanted to give women a platform to raise their voice, a platform to raise awareness for crimes against women, to build a community where each and every individual respects women, their rights, needs, freedom and aspirations.

What we do?

We don’t just enter the Facebook Wall or Twitter Feed but the hearts of our fans. The posts we share generally gets huge response from our ever-growing community.

We share some of the most heart-touching and thought provoking content.

OUR SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGNS

Dear Diary Campaign

Highlighting the plight of women while they travel in public transport or on roads. The objective was to drive responses from the community for suggestions for a better public transport system.

Personal accounts of eve teasing/harassment faced by women were shared on the Facebook page. The common aspect of all the experiences was the occurrence in a vehicle (public or private) and when on road.

DEAR DIARY Women were asked to break the shackles, raise their voice and speak their heart out without any fear. The response was tremendous.

The campaign was about being fearless & not giving-in. The hashtag trended for two days on Twitter, marking the anniversary of the Delhi Gang Rape Case.

It was a quest to remember what she went through and getting the justice that she deserved!
