Because they can be.

Easy access.

Everyone else is doing it.

Social credibility.

Where are they?

Twitter - short msgs w/links to photos, videos, etc, teen use doubled since 2011.

Instagram - photos & videos

SnapChat - text, photos, videos with time limit, “disposable social media”

Vine - short looping videos

ask.fm - feeding ground for bullies, many anonymous profiles

Teens are self censoring on Facebook because they know their family is there.

Celebrity profiles on twitter and instagram are very appealing to teens

And many more…

Behavior is on public display…Word of mouth on steroids, do you know what your

children are saying or doing?
