AWS Hybrid Cloud Capabilities

© 2016 SoftNAS, Inc.

• AWS provides a wide variety of hybrid use cases

9

2016 Hybrid Cloud Adoption

© 2016 SoftNAS, Inc.

• 82% of enterprises have a hybrid cloud strategy in place for 2016.

1. Benefits and Use Cases

12

• Elastic Scaling– Allocate resources through one interface– Data can be moved to the public cloud as needed to save on costs and

remove the need to build new data centers• Backup & Archiving

– Create real-time backups in the public cloud• Business Applications

– Run your most important applications on your private cloud– Older applications with less use can be run on public clouds at a lower cost– Develop new apps on the public cloud at a reduced cost and move them to

your private cloud when ready for deployment– IT remains in control of when and where applications are deployed

• Enterprise-class NAS filer software appliances

• Installed both in Amazon EC2 and on-premises

• Allows for replication from on-premises to Amazon EC2 & vice versa

• Replication– SoftNAS deployed in EC2

as replication target using SnapReplicate

– Enables backup, disaster recovery & development environment scenarios

Determine What Remains On-

Premise

Cost Savings Security Manage New Environments with Familiar Processes

• Mission critical environments are NOT good choices for the Hybrid Cloud.

• Seasonal workloads are a nice fit for the scalability that a Public Cloud provides, as well as non-essential workloads, and applications with a short shelf life.

• Every future CapEx expenditure for hardware should be scrutinized to see if a Public or Hybrid Cloud Solution would help reduce or eliminate those costs.

• Create individual AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) user accounts so that each user managing AWS has their own security credentials

• Building out tools and workflows for cloud-based resources is time consuming. Maximize ROI with solutions that isolate and automate on-premise and cloud-based platforms to a single, unified environment that is easy to use.
