What does the Bible tell us about Jericho?

Jericho was a walled city with a gate.

The conquest happened in the spring, after the harvest.

The conquest occurred quickly.

The inhabitants of Jericho didn’t escape.

The wall fell down flat and the Israelites went up into the city.

Jericho was “devoted to Jehovah,” Israel took no personal plunder.

Jericho was burned.

When did this occur?Solomon’s reign began c. 970 B.C.

The fourth year of Solomon is 480 years after the exodus (1 Kings 6.1).

So, Israel departed Egypt c. 1446 B.C.

Israel entered Canaan a little more than 41 years later.

c. 1405 B.C.
