to the Literature of the God’s People

From Creation to the Ottoman Empire

Jewish HIstory

The beginnings of the Jews can be traced through the Bible and religious texts.

God created man in his own image, In the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. – Genesis 1:27

In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the

mountains of Ararat– Genesis 8:4

Noah was six hundred years old when the flood water came upon the earth. –

Genesis 7:6

Therefore its name was called Babel because the lord confused the language of the whole earth and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the whole face of the earth. (Genesis 11:9)

“Look toward the heaven and count the stars, if you can and that is how many descendants you will have.” (Genesis 15:5-6)

He said, “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed.” -Genesis 32:28 (New American Standard Version)

The sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh took one share each. Levi’s share was given up because they were meant to serve in God’s

ministries.

Now the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and remain there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandment which I have written for their instruction.- Exodus 24: 12 (New American Standard Bible)From what the Lord has given to Moses in Mt. Sinai, the Jews derived the Torah. In Judaism, Torah is a guide for the righteous way of life. Not purely religious but a gude on how to live harmoniously within a society.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, “Depart, go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying ‘To your descendants I will give it.’“I will send an Angel before you and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite. The Hittite, the Peizzzite. The Hivite and the Jebusite.”

Exodus 33: 1-2

The Ark of Covenant

This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is God in Israel.

– 1 Samuel 17: 46

The Kingdom was divided into two.1. The Kingdom of

Israel took ten tribes2. The Kingdom of juda

took two tribes (Tribes of Juda and Benjamin)

After the fall of the City to the Assyrians, The Babylonians conquered and destroyed the City of Jerusalem.

The Babylonian empire was overrun by the Greek Empire and conquered Jerusalem. It was then that the Torah was translated to Greek. The Ark of Covenant was Returned to the old city of Jerusalem when it was rebuilt.

The Roman empire

The Greek empire was overturned by the Roman empire.

Byzantine Empire overturned the Roman Empire. Constantine converts Roman empire to Christianity during the rise of the Byzantine Empire.

The Ottoman empire

In the time of the ottoman empire (Muslims), Christian Jews spread towards Europe because they have been driven out of their land. Other non-Christian Jews remained in their land.

A Nation has:

1. People2. Government or sovereignty3. Territory

The Jews have the three components of a nation. The

problem is that, the Palestine do not, and they are fighting for a

single territory. The Jews believe that God has promised that the land belongs to them and they

have the right to claim it.
