Memory Verse: Mark 10:45

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and

to give his life as a ransom for many.”

1 Timothy 4:7-8 (NLT) 7Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. 8Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next.

Godliness is the life-long process of becoming more and more like Jesus.

Five practices of a godly life:

1. Permit god to MOLD ME.

Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) 1And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?

2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

2. Protect myself from UNGODLINESS.

1 Corinthians 15:32-34 (NLT)32 I there is no resurrection, "Let's feast and get drunk, for tomorrow we die"! 33Don't be fooled by those who say such things, for "bad company corrupts good character." 34 Come to your senses and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don't even know God.

There are two principles:

• Close Association

Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT) 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

9 Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.
