Dan Kaster - Five Steps to Swimming More Quickly

Swim instructor Dan Kaster is a former competitive swimmer. Dan Kaster was named

a National Junior College Swimmer of the Year.

To improve your swimming speed and performance, try the following techniques:

1.Practice making your dive fluid and efficient. Starting a race with a strong dive

can make all of the difference.

2. Maintain a stable core while you are swimming, and keep your eyes on the bottom

of the pool. A horizontal body position reduces resistance.

3. Fully extend your arms through each stroke. Strong downward pressure propels your body forward and prevents your legs from bearing the entire brunt of the swim.

4. Focus on maximizing the movements of each of your body parts, not just your limbs. Your shoulders in particular are important

propellers.

5. Learn how to breathe properly. Turning your body with the help of your hips allows you to take longer, more helpful breaths.
