What?

To change a culture,

we do not argue right vs. wrong, But instead redefine the

dominant identity of our audience.

So what is theDominant identity

Of sports?

It is defined by the Principles we attribute to it.

With the creation of a Declaration for Human Rights in Sports,

The “why” becomes “why not.”

But what do We want it to do?

But what do We want it to do?

And who do we want it to help?

Athletes

1. Define individual athlete rights.

2. Define the responsibility of sport governing bodies to protect athletes seeking asylum or those displaced due to conflict.

Fans

1.Create a uniform fan code of conduct to ensure that every fan has equal access and experience.

2.Ensure that global sporting facilities are accessible for people of all bodies and abilities.

Sport Governance

1. Ensure diversity of representation in sports governance.

2. Ensure that sport governing bodies provide equitable resourcing across sports.

Sporting Event Contractors and Workers

1. Ensure that those building sports venues are equitably paid and protected.

2. Ensure that those who work a sporting event are properly paid.

3. Ensure that merchandise sold at sporting events is made with ethical standards of pay and saftey.

Host Communities

1. Home and community displacement.

2. Environmental footprint of sporting event.

3. Sex and human trafficking in conjunction with sporting event.

Mechanisms for

Accountability

1. What policies can be drafted to the human rights standards we collectively believe in and how can we work together to apply them to sporting constituents and those impacted by sport?

2. What system of evaluation can be implemented to keep all sports and their governing bodies accountable to human rights expectations and goals?

A. Craft human rights policy and program checklist.

B. How do these principles becoming integrated into the bidding process for hosting all major sporting events?

The Olympic Model is broken

A Declaration for HumanRights in Sports could fix it.

It would: 1. Unite human rights activists.

2. Define the role and responsibility of sport globally.

3. Create a platform for accountability.

4. Influence event host to champion human rights.
