History of Cloud Computing1990 1995 2000 2005 2010 2015

• SOA in 2001 post the EAI and the early Utility computing ASP model.

• BPR behind in the end of the 1990’s having consulted in this from 1993 to 1999.

• By 2003 was defining how Web 2.0 was being defined and then cloud computing around 2007-8. I have t-shirts now saying “10 years of SOA” from conferences in 2007!

• 2009 - The “above the clouds” A Berkley view of cloud computing in 2009.

• 2009 - Berkley-Intel mobile research lab RAD paper on multiplicity in around the same year that spoke about clouding workloads. This established that we has moved beyond SOA into a dynamic run time binding model.

• 2011 The NIST computing computing reference model in 2011-12 for architecture define the SPI model for cloud and the private, public, community and hybrid cloud model + the 5 characteristics of cloud: 1. on-demand access, 2. Measured service, 3. Broad Network Access, 4. Resource Pooling, 5. Rapid Elasticity.

• It was not until 2014 that the ISO cloud computing reference model was published together with its cloud computing vocabulary….ISO 17788 and ITU Y.3500 Cloud Computing Reference Architecture Standard ITU-T Y.3500 (2014) | ISO/IEC 17788:2014, Information technology — Cloud computing — Overview and vocabulary

• PaaS – DevOps , continuous

• SaaS - commodity , dev , custom - COTS- Modular

• New models - mobile, content, SDN, SD_DC, Big Data, Appliances, AI – M2M

• Growing ecosystem distros, crowd, open source

CCC Professional Cloud Solutions Architect Certification

© Cloud Credential Council

This Professional Cloud Solutions Architect certification is designed to enable candidates to successfully navigate and support the adoption, development and performance optimization of cloud solutions and services in the enterprise and IT ecosystem. Solution Architects need to understand the impact that cloud is having on business and information architecture, application design, data management, and security. They must be equally familiar with the topology and ecosystems that are being created as a result of increasing adoption of cloud technologies and operating models.

The PCSA certification is designed for senior technology professionals who are designing the next generation of IT solutions and infrastructure. The training covers critical concepts and supplements this with hands-on, practical, exercises and case studies. The certification refers to leading technologies, platforms and cloud standards to provide a real-world context and cement these concepts.

Some of the main challenges in cloud computing today ?• Scale

• Commercialization

• Cyber

Strategies for adoption of cloud computing • SMEs can select a range of freemium and one-stop-shop solutions

• Larger - the trade-off between standard and shared services and bespoke

• Partner models - multi-layers of cloud, which throat to choke??

Cyber Security in Cloud Computing

• DDOS

• Data Breaches

• Contracts - back to back

• Accountability of SLAs

• Legal

• IP

New and emerging business models in cloud computing • Many SIs seek to orchestrate, aggregate, broker, versus Integration costs

• New entrants

• Own digital integration platform

New technology models in cloud computing – future directions• Micro-containers e.g. Docker …. Micro-clouds

• IoT

• M2M , AI

• Unified Computing UC

• Open source, Open stack

• Growing Ecosystem distros

How is governance evolving in cloud computing • Agile organisation • Lean management• Demand and supply planning – dynamic pricing , thin provisioning ,

contracts • BYOD • Labs • Zones

How does Enterprise solution performance fit issues involving Cloud Computing ?• I/O performance

• Building the catalog of apps and APIs

• Cloud fit 40-50% workloads not moved to cloud?
