Your Mission
The Chairman’s Green Award
• Sustainability is no longer a corporate buzzword equating to “doing good”, but a boardroom issue that affects business value.
• USD5000 to the office with the best program for cutting consumption.
• Together we will develop a regional framework. Then each of you will develop and lead local programs based on a common thinking.
Your first assignment
• Desktop research. Look for local published articles, reports, university/think tank research, etc.
• To find out:– What are peoples’ attitudes towards the environment in
your country? Do they feel that there’s a problem? Are they doing anything to fix it?
– What are governments and NGOs doing? What are brands doing?
– What are the key issues in environmental sustainability in your country?
• Deadline: August 5 (Close of business)• Following your research, we will formulate hypotheses and
then test them out.
Game plan
• Now to August: – Interrogate the context– Develop strategy and big idea
• September: – Develop local programs
• September-January: – Launch and execute
• February: – Submit case study for Chairman’s award
How this will work • Spend half day every Friday on the assignment.
• Fuel conversations– Everyone must have a Twitter account and tweet
and re-tweet constantly. Use hashtags #ycagogreen
– Upload insights onto blog using video, instagram/regular photos, etc.
– Start conversations on blog via comments, polls, etc.
