All even numbers are divisible by two

All numbers ending with zero are divisible by 10.

Vocabulary

Divisible by: if one counting number can be divided by a second counting number with a remainder of 0, then the first number is divisible by the second number. Example: 28 is divisible by 7 because 28 divided

by 7 is 4, with no remainder.

Divisibility test: These rules let you test if one number is divisible by another, without having to do too much calculation!

Divisibility Rules

divisible by 1: all numbers

divisible by 2: all even numbers (end with 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8)

Divisible by 3: if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3

Divisible by 5: if it ends with 0 or 5

Divisible by 6: if it is divisible by both 2 and 3

Divisible by 9: if the sum is divisible by 9

Divisible by 10: if it ends with 0
