Joomla 3.0 is considered a "short-term support" release, meaning that you can expect many changes in the codebase by the time the stable or "long-term support" version — Joomla 3.5 — is released in April 2014. This has not stopped many web developers from using Joomla 3.0 to build production web sites. Not surprisingly, there are now quite a few great third-party add-ons that support Joomla 3.
