Phil Plait used fascinating information and pop culture references to keep the audience engaged.

Which of the TED commandment did Phil Plait best follow?

Commandment #3: Make the complex plain.

Phil Plait did a great job explaining how we can stop a asteroid from hitting the earth. It was simple and easy to understand. At no point was his presentation overly complex.

Evaluate the speaker dynamism from a scale to 1 - 5

What could he have done to increase his dynamism?

5

Phil Plait was very dynamic. Not much could have been done to be more dynamic then he was in this Speech.

What tips were used from Garr Reynolds or Nancy Duarte?

The art of being completely there.

Phil was very into his speech and was not distracted or detached at all. His speech felt very natural.

What did you learn about delivery from your presenter?

I learned that I can interject my personality and humor into my presentations to make them more personal and engaging.

Compare and contrast Phil Plait to Ken Robinson.

Phil is very dynamic and has a lot of humor in his speech. His speech is both entertaining and informative.

Ken is also very dynamic and makes his speech both entertaining and interesting. He makes his point using information and humor.

Both Ken and phil have different styles of presenting their speeches.

Ken is a little less dynamic and has a little less energy. However his humor is a little more subtle in both execution and impact.

Phil has a stronger opening that impacts you and captures your attention instantaneously.

His humor is has more punch and he makes more references to pop culture. His speech is a little more impactful and energetic.

What tips can I give you about delivery for upcoming speeches based only on my Ted talk?

Don’t be afraid to personalize your speeches. Add your own personality, humor and interest into your work to make it uniquely yours and to make it more engaging.
