Vladislav Starevich was the first Russian

animator. In 1912 Starevich produced a documentary film

about horned beetles, in particular

—the fight of two horned males for the

female.

The film shot by him was the first puppet animation film in the world.

The import technology enclosed to the traditions of Russian culture promised a

high rise of the Soviet animation.

In 1936 the studio called ”Sojuzmultfilm” (“The union of animations”) was created in

the USSR.

Though the plot of our serial was copied from Disney’s “Tom and Jerry”, it’s much more kind, and there are some moral principles. The wolf - aggressor is always punished, the hare revenges nobody. The wolf, in essence, is quite a nice animal, sometimes even it reconciles with the hare. But Tom is always beaten, he always suffers greatly from Jerry’s pranks.

Cheburashka was an official symbol for the

sportsmen during the Winter

Olympiad in Turin last year.

It was released in 1980 by Vladimir

Popov. Such famous people as Maria

Vinogradova, Oleg Tabakov, Lev Durov gave sound to the

cartoon.
