Aren’t FFMP basins already in AWIPS?

FFMP program has worked well• Program came out of

NWS Pittsburgh via Bob Davis• Basins from NSSL via Ami Arthur • Created basin centric thinking

But there are some limitations• No topo reference• Fills in the whole basin

We do things different out West

Rugged terrain Limited observation points Intensity more important than how much

What can you do with modified basins

Get to know your area better Low Water Crossings Burn Scars High Risk Dams Problem Creeks/Arroyos
