• Two Strategies to Drive Mobile Initiatives– Developing Mass Appeal Apps– High-Value Vertical Business Apps

Project Background

7

Project Background

• Zoll desired design guidance before beginning implementation of the new LifeVest Network Application.

• The LifeVest is a product to monitor sudden cardiac arrest patients before a permanent, surgical solution is completed.

• The Zoll design phase is built upon the foundation of a research and discovery phase.

Design Phase

Design Philosophy

• Mobile-First Provides focus and clarity. Allows a forward-thinking approach.

• Task-Focused All labels and UI arrangement should facilitate task

completion. Categories of content are built around tasks and

functions.

• Strong “Information Scent” Labels in the navigation should provide clear indicators

to users on the information behind the label.

10

Interface Design

• All Built Mobile-First Content Strategy Information Architecture

• Heavy Interaction Design Guidance

11

12

13

14

15

“You exceeded our expectations.”

“Not only will this project impact the sales force [positively], it will also allow us to expand at the ZOLL level.”

"As far as I'm concerned, this is a home run. You hit it out of the park.”

16

Takeways

• Doing application design using mobile-first and responsive web design require extensive planning and thoughtfulness. It should touch everything!

• Don't design in a vacuum: consistently and thoughtfully engage the business and users to build user-centered solutions.
