DESCRIPTION

An afternoon of peace and quiet is just what the "Doctor" ordered and the best place to find it is at the City's Blockhouse Island. If you just want to sit and watch the world go by, Or marvel at the sheer size and majesty of the Lakers - the Great Lakes Cargo Ships. Or even the family boats that are leisurely passing by at times to deliver their owners to one of the 1,800 islands for a weekend of communing with nature...this is the place to just put your mind in neutral and enjoy the action all round you!

Brockville’s Blockhouse IslandAn Oasis in the City

written & photographed by: Fergus JM Ducharme,

It’s quite true. Blockhouse Island is a veritable OASIS in this fantastic, historic

small town on the St. Lawrence River and the eastern end of the 1,000 Islands,

It’s worth just coming down to the waterfront just to sit and watch the world go

by…it can be an educational experience, or just a plain relaxing few minutes

before getting back to the daily grind of life.

There’s not much to say. We’ll try to say it with our usual photos…

My two helpers. The Grandchildren Alexandra & Sebastien Gauthier
