It was a 30 km drive UP to the COLD trail head at Chopta

Setting out from Chopta

The cobble stone trail starts out through thick rhododendron forest.

Magnificent views of Kedarnath, right from the beginning of the trail (6,940m/22,769’)

The peaks of Chaukhamba soon begin to emerge. (7,138m/23,419’)

Tungnath Temple (3,680m/12,073’) Sixteen of us made it this far!

A simpler trail above Tungnath with some icy patches!

Chandrashila summit in sight (4,000m/13,123’)

Will was first to the top, determined to stay ahead of most of the advancing clouds.

Six more of us joined Will in fairly short order.
