Manasyirea Caldarusani

The Caldarusani Monastery

is located 40 km north - east of Bucharest, on a peninsula  surrounded

by the lake with the same name, the place where once there were

the   Vlasiei forests. The Caldarusani Monastery was founded by Matei

Basarab, built between  1638-1639. Here is a rich collection of medieval

artefacts, old books, several paintings belonging to Nicolae Grigorescu youth

period and an exhibition of ancient icons in  the monastery.
