CONTENTS PAGE DEVELOPMENT Sharnel Mehmi

To begin creating my contents page I had first opened up this image in Adobe photo shop CC as it is an image which I would like to edit and use in my contents page.

As I only wanted to lighten the girl and the dress which she’s wearing, I added an exposure layer and inverted the layer so that the area that I draw over is lightened.

I had increased the exposure level to 2.42 and drew over the girl with the brush tool to lighten the area.

Adding another exposure layer I reduced the level of exposure down to -9.09 and changed the colour of the paint brush tool to black and painted over the girl. I had done this as I wanted to darken everything in the image besides the girl.

For an image of a chandelier, I had again added an exposure filter and lowered the exposure to -3.36 and using the paint brush tool I had drawn over the chandelier to lighten this area and make it contrast against the dark background.

To begin making my contents page I had created an A4 canvas and made a copy of the background so I can use the paint bucket tool and change the background colour to black.

I had then placed the image of the girl onto the canvas at the angle that I wanted.

I had placed the image of the chandelier onto the canvas and made a copy of it as I wanted to darken the image.

How the contents page looked after I darkened the chandelier and the area around the dress.

To create the title of my contents page I had used the text tool to do so and I had kept the font and colour of the title the same as my masthead. To create my contents lists I had created a rectangle using the rectangle tool and I rasterized the rectangle so that I can make it transparent.

How my contents page looked before receiving feedback.

FEEDBACK – improvementsInclude an introductory article next to the contents list

How my magazine looked after the changes made. I had placed an image of a woman playing a cello and using another rasterised rectangle I highlighted the name of the article and below I had wrote the article using the text tool.
