Here comes the colour

Couldn’t resistSee Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Falling Water” in Pennsylvania! Couldn’t resist getting onto a least one of these illustrations. This is an example of how all of these will look in due course. Adding colour takes about 6 hours.

Colour popping up all over the country!Mixing it up! The blanks represent drawings yet to be done but my artistic enthusiasm can’t help but add colour. This is so much fun for me – it’s what keeps me coming back! From my perspective, this could be daunting – so many illustrations to draw, paint and assemble in the final work when I still am not completely sure how it will come together. I probably won’t know how it’s really going to come together until I have all the image files in Photoshop which is the final stage in the process and 7/8 of the way through it’s creation.

Close ups…What do you think of my chosen elements to represents California?

The stages of colour…Here are some examples of the first of two to three colour applications applied over the pen and ink drawings. As you can see, I still have the same 5 blank panels to be drawn! No problem – I’ll tackle them one day very soon! (Side note: Looking at this today – a few weeks later with so many more panels finished – I’m delighted that I persisted in this huge endeavour with no clear end in sight. I only undertake this big a project once every two or three years. It’s a big deal for me to do this!
