The Devil Made Me Do It is a Mixed documentary as it contains a mixture of Narration, Observation, Archive Footage and Interviews..

Theme

The documentary is about how someone famous can affect other into doing something or acting like them in some way. And also how others respond to it.

Sound and Editing

Music at Marilyn's concert.

Sound of a heartbeat as the 3 girls explain what happened at the murder scene.

Montage of Mug shots to open the documentary.

Red text on-screen to fit the theme of the documentary.

Narrative Structure

Beginning At the beginning of the documentary it shows Marilyn Manson and his followers. And then sets out the Murder and what happened.

Middle Marilyn is show in a negative way with one side of his face being shaded and the other being light. So people have mixed opinions of him because when he's on stage he's a totally different person. He gets the blame for the 3 girls Murdering the Nun.

End The 3 girls receive their sentence and Marilyn is shown in a negative light as it also shows teenagers doing bad things because of him.

Camerawork

There are a lot of different camera angles used throughout this documentary.

Slow Motion at Concerts to emphasize that they idolise Marilyn Manson.

Marilyn's face is half in shadow and half in light which means people have mixed views on him.

Marilyn is shown from low angles at his concerts to show he is the more powerful one and people look up to him.

Mise en Scene

The lawyer on the train is the only one wearing red this means she is the more powerful one.

Teenagers are negatively filmed in there bedrooms while smoking.
