From 1935 to 1942 Dorothea Lange worked in the Farm Security Administration, documenting rural America. Her photographs were reproduced in thousands of magazines and newspapers, helping to create a national awareness of the farmers' plight and profoundly influencing American photojournalism by their simplicity and directness. Most of the people in these photographs are gone now. But their spirit of optimism and the hope for a better day lives onthrough their children and grandchildren. God Bless America.
