Main Sections

From the front over of this magazine we know that the main sections are about the band ‘5SOS’, The Vamps and Ariana Grande. The feature of this issue is going to be about 5 Seconds Of Summer as it is the cover story of the magazine. They are also taking up the most room on the cover as well as bigger text than the other articles. The bigger the image and text, the more important the article will be in the magazine and generally how much coverage they will get.

What are the articles about?

The articles in this magazine are all aimed at young females. This is shown through the continual colour scheme of pink and white which show happiness and positivity. The articles are about shopping which is conventional for a girls magazine, an ‘exclusive interview’ with pop stars, and articles which let the reader get to know a bit more about celebrities and artists. All these aspects will draw teenage girls to this magazine as it’s what they are interested in reading.

What bands/artists are included?

Many bands/artists are used in this magazine such as Ella Henderson, One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer which are all very popular with the target audience for Top Of The Pops, young teenage girls. These will all stand out to the reader which will make them want to read the magazine if it has images of their favourite bands and artists on the front cover. A mixture of male and female artists are featured in the magazine as this will also entice readers. Teenagers will read about female singers as they will be able to relate to them, but also boy-bands as teenage girls all tend to have a ‘crush’ on one member or another.

What type of products are advertised?

In this particular double page spread, various ‘girly’ products are being advertised on a ‘wish list’. These items mainly consist of clothing, make-up and other female accessories. This will also catch the attention of young teenagers because they will associate these products with the artists and celebrities in the magazine, enticing them into buying these products to be more like the singers who they look up to. All these goods also have a female colour scheme, again appealing to their target age range.
