The Task…• We were to write and think about a quote given to us in class. We

wrote down for and against reasons for the quote, to give us more of an understanding towards the person’s quote.• We then shared our opinions with the rest of the class and they also

gave us their thoughts on the quote that we were given and discussed the advantages and disadvantages considering the quote.

This quote was my group’s as we were asked to write down the advantages and disadvantages of it.

We broke apart the quote and looked at the first sentence. ‘How a society channels male aggression’ suggests that this is not including how female aggression is portrayed in the media. This quote is excluding women and just focusing on the male making them seem like the dominant gender here.Females can be aggressive, as there has been many famous actresses such as Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider. She is seen as a fighter, a hero, someone who is fearless and takes everything in her stride whether it being aggressive or not.

‘Glorification’ - James Bond doesn’t suffer the consequences for his actions as he never leaves fight scenes with a scratch, he always comes out alive.

I think that more people are influenced to go out and smoke cigarettes, and not everyone is tempted to go out and kill someone.

I think that people can release their anger and emotions through games, and use this instead of going out and committing the real crimes.

I disagree, I do not think that violence is one of the most fun things to watch.

I think that a good plot and something that gets you thinking is one of the most important and interesting things in a movie.

I am against this because it could encourage bad behaviour and suggest that it is okay to be violent towards people, mincing the actions being shown in the film.

If violence is not realistic then people will not get a ‘gripping feel’ or wow factor, it would not have the same effect to it.

Although, this can encourage dangerous behaviour, scare some people and influence violence.

I think that you do sometimes become desensitized to violence because it is in a lot of films nowadays, there is violence in the news and on TV. I can see that some people can get used to violence being shown to them on a regular basis.
