To create my music video, I decided to use the Adobe Premiere Pro software and began by opening the ‘New Project’ link. I changed the name of my project to Robyn Gibson as there was several others using the same computer that I was using so to avoid confusion I renamed the file.

I then imported all my video clips onto Premiere Pro using the memory card provided by college and then renamed the files with a description so that I could decided which clips I was definitely going to not use and those I wanted to use.

After this I used several different tools and effects featured on the next slides to create my overall music video.

This tool allowed me to select where I wanted my music video to run from meaning I did not have to view the entire video to get to a specific part. Also as I was able to pause with the audio I was able to quickly line up the lip syncing with the audio which looks more professional then if the shots were not lined up.

When creating my music video, an important part of editing was to ensure that I rendered the video ever so often to

avoid it from crashing and making the music video freeze. It is clear to know if the video needs to be rendered when the

coloured bars at the top of the are red which mine were most of the time before I rendered the video.

Kaleidoscope Effect

Within my music video, I liked the idea of using a kaleidoscope effect often featured in music videos and various abstract art. This is quite unconventional of my chosen genre but I feel as though it fits quite well. To create my Kaleidoscope effect, I opened Adobe After Effects and imported the clip, I wanted to alter. I then applied the kaleidi effect, this meant that by manipulating the effect controls, I would be able to achieve the effect I wanted to create. I then changed the angle of clip so that it allowed the image to flip on itself several times. I then changed it to the flower effect so that the image looked less noticeable and more like a flower.

Ink Effect

Featured in other music videos, I have seen the water/ink effect work quite well and felt that by incorporating it into my music video it would also improve my music video effectively in a simple way. At the time of filming, I didn’t have any access to ink so instead used red food colouring. Due to it not being black it didn’t show up as effectively as I would of hoped for but still looked quite cool when placed in black and white shots.

Black And White Shots When constructing my music video, the

majority of the shots I used were in black and white. By doing this, I felt it gave my music video more depth and a sort of dark haunting atmosphere matching the website and digipak. To create these shots, I first looked at the ‘Effects’ section and found that the black and white effect wasn’t dark enough or looked very effective. I then found the ‘Calculations’ effect and applied it to the clips I wanted. I was then apple to change the input channel from RGBA to red and then the second layer to green making my shots a more darker black and white style. I then altered the opacity to 75% for each clip and then changed the blending mode from normal to multiply.

When editing different shots of my music video, I was able to shorten the clips down or extend them adapting the clip to allow it to g in time with the music. I was also able to overlay the shots on top of each other and change the opacity so that the video underneath could be viewed. This made my music vide look less boring then having one straight cut to each clip.
