INTRODUCTION
Sandra Backlund is a Swedish fashion designer specialising in sculptural knitwear.
Backlund set up her own eponymous label in 2004.
Collaborated with Louis Vuitton (A/W 2007) and Emilio Pucci (A/W 2009) on several knitwear pieces for their collections.
In 2010 Backlund launched her first solo collection
AESTHETICSBacklund’s design aesthetic is sculptural, architectural and dynamic.
Striving to exaggerate and accentuate the female form
fluctuates proportions, producing designs that are simultenously sci-fi and warm.
MATERIAL & COLOURS
Works with heavy wool, paper, soft wood, human hair and more recently 100% copper wire.
Backlund has manged to transform the very meaning of knitwear into a piece of sculpture, a piece of moving art.

Likes to “consciously dress and undress parts of the body” in an effort to “highlight, distort, and transform the natural silhouette with clothes and accessories,”
BODY SKIN & HAIR This collection highlights the proportions of the body and flesh colored tones, and actual human hair.
INK BLOT TEST
The collection is based on the patterns used in the Rorschach inkblot test.
Collection won the Grand prix at the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie à Hyères.

Maglificio also collaborated with other iconic designers like Azzedine Alaïa, Sonia Rykiel and more recently, Lanvin.
The results of the collaboration were on display at White Club
First collection to be recreated on machines with four all black samples.
