BIG CONCEPT

The goal here is to show your abilities in properly layering, planning, and carrying out your actions to create an original acrylic painting.

Page 4: Saturday Morning Heroes Challenge

Requirements For both paintings/layers

1. Acetate CelYour cartoon character has been traced out in the proper location and is clean of running paint, smudges, or smears.

2. Album Art BackgroundIs finished using watercolor, and also has all of the necessary details/information for it to appear as album art.

ie: Artist title, proper font/size, parental warning

3. LayeringWhen both the clear cel and the watercolor album art are layered, one on-top of the other, the painting will appear as a variant (or altered version) of the original album art.

NOTE: everything should line up properly and fit within the boundaries of your 8.5 x 8.5 square.

If you have excess paper or too much negative space...you may need to change the approach you're taking or add a bit more to your album art.

4. Artist Statement:A picture is worth a thousand words

This painting should speak for itself, however, just like every other painting you’ve participated in, I am going to require each student to be able to talk about the creative process they took in completing this work.

This means you should be mentioning:

▪ Why this album?▪ Why these cartoon characters?▪ What idea where you trying to

communicate?▪ Was the process successful or not?▪ Do you believe that the viewer will

understand what is being presented?
