The Narrator is never seen, using the ‘voice of god’ technique. At the beginning of the documentary they use a montage to make it more dramatic and make your more excited for the information ahead. The documentary has a beginning, middle, climax and resolution. The documentary is a mixed documentary because it includes: combined interviews, observation, narration, and archived footage.

• Cut aways are used various amount of times when the voice over is talking to the audience to give them a better understanding. The documentary uses the a fade-to-black technique to tell use they are changing scene. When interviewing a person, they look at the journalist, not the camera.

Archived Footage

• They use archived footage of news reports, police interrogations, and ‘911’ calls. The also have footage of a trial she once done.

The Mise-En-Scene

• The mise-en-scene takes place at a the locaion of the murder, giving the documentary more emotion and giving the audience a better insight into the case. Other mise-en-scene is digitally edited in. They used a green screen and edited a montage of the location, the people involved and words to add emotion.

Graphics

• The graphics used throughout the documentary are all the same font, size and colour. This shows consistency and looks more professional and formal, which is suitable for this sort of documentary.
