Advertising IndustryThe Advertising Industry is about how to sell a product and send a message to the target audience.

In the advertising industry anything can be advertised, for example: clothing, cars, shoes.

Company's like Nike or Puma advertise there new clothing range with pictures to show off the latest trends. Like the pictures to the right, they normally create abstract images to get people attention and it makes to shoe look better.The advertising industry can also highlight negative things in the media, for example: on a cig packet when they have pictures of lungs. This is a strong message to the buyer showing them what could happen to them if they carry on smoking.

Fashion IndustryThe fashion industry is a multi-billion pound global industry and is widely showed off by pictures showing the latest trends and clothes from catwalks around the world. Also you can show colours and different styles through photography.

Steven Meisel is an American photographer who has become famous through working in the USA and Italy and working with famous starts like Madonna. He is considered as one of the best in the industry and does regular shooting with Vogue.

As shown in the pictures too the right he does not only show off the new clothes/trends he does it in a abstract way that will stand out from the crowds.

Music IndustryPhotography in the music industry is widely used, for example it is used on band albums, posters, t- shirts and at gigs.

Bands use photos to make their album covers stand out from the rest. It is manly for promotional posters or ads that pictures of the band/artist are taken.

Here are some examples to the right, of different t-shirts and posters you can purchase.

Sports IndustryPhotography in the sports industry is huge. It is used everywhere from in news papers, shop windows, online, in magazines and on bill boards. Pictures are used to advertise products like bikes or football boots.

By taking a picture of the product in a ‘action’ shot it allows the viewer to get a sense of what the product can do, and it also makes them look more appealing to the audience like the photos to the right instead of just being on a white or black background.

Photo journalismPhoto journalism is used in newspapers/online in a story. It can be used in sport to show what happened. It records what happens in sport, for example at a football match when somebody scores a goal.

Romano Cagnoni used to photograph sculptures in the small town of Pietrasanta, Tuscany, which is famous for its sculpture studios. In 1958, he moved to London, UK, where he lived for 30 years. Here, he started working as a freelance photographer contributing to different European magazines.

Fine Art PhotographyFine art photography is photography created in accordance with the vision of the artist as photographer. Fine art photography stands in contrast to representational photography, such as photojournalism, which provides a documentary visual account of specific subjects and events, literally re-presenting objective reality rather than the subjective intent of the photographer; and commercial photography, the primary focus of which is to advertise products or services.
