2016-MODEL YEAR CARS
We're about a quarter of the way through 2015, which means it's almost time to get outdoors, get some fresh air and test out some of the 2016 model year's coolest new cars. There are a lot
of visually stunning rides that boast powerful performance in addition to sleek, sporty aesthetics.
!One that stands out in particular is the McLaren 650S Spider,
which seems to be a race car that has been refitted for the open road without compromising any performance.
MCLAREN 650S SPIDER
One car getting a lot of buzz this year is the McLaren 650S. Borne from a race car, it boasts a zero-to-sixty
time of under three seconds, a top speed of 204 mph.
Its build is extremely impressive, with a durable carbon fibre monocell, sleek side vents to keep the engine
cool, and an engine that can reach 8500rpm. What's even more impressive is that it uses twin turbochargers
to give it 95% peak torque between 3000-7000rpm.
MCLAREN 650S SPIDER SAFETY
In terms of safety, the 650S Spider gives you a lot of reassurance, included its Brake Steer system. This
mechanism manages traction using the rear brakes, helping you to manage understeer and oversteer in your turns.
It basically ensures that you'll be able to properly pivot throughout your turns without losing control, a great
feature to have whether you're on the track or on the road. The Spider also features a splitter, diffuser and air brake,
which reinforces the car's aerodynamic design to provide maximum downforce and traction.
Hop inside the 650S Spider and you'll feel like you've plopped
yourself down in the pet project of someone who splits their time
between interior design and Formula 1 Racing. It's fitted with a luxurious Carbon Black Alcantra interior, an active dynamic panel
and a panoramic view of your surroundings.
PURE LUXURY
If you didn't already feel like you were in a race car, feel around to the back of the steering wheel to
find a rocker shift paddle that makes it incredibly easy to shift
gears. Of course, if that's too overwhelming, you can always
transfer to automatic shifting. Also, to remind yourself that you're
actually in a sports car, there's a retractable roof that takes only seventeen seconds to raise or
lower at speeds of up to 19mph.
There are many cars to try for the 2016-model year, but with all that it has to offer, 2017-model year cars
might begin to roll out before you're done trying everything the McLaren 650S Spider has to offer.
